The River Valley Panthers will square off against the West Shamokin Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
River Valley barely beat Penns Manor the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Comets on Friday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Gavin Burkhart and Chase Stuchal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Burkhart pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Stuchal tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for River Valley: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 4-10 otherwise. At bat, Burkhart went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Stuchal went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Stuchal has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Sammy Yanits was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of River Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Vresilovic, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
River Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penns Manor only managed five hits.

McConnell went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Talmadge went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gunnar Shoop, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

River Valley took their win against West Shamokin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
