On Friday, the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans faced the Legacy Longhorns in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cimarron-Memorial took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy. Cimarron-Memorial has not had much luck with Legacy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Rahjon Chambers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Legacy, scoring 22 points. Chambers hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Maven-Bell Toleafoa was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Cimarron-Memorial's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8. As for Legacy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Cimarron-Memorial will head out on the road to challenge Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Canyon Springs is ranked 32nd, while Cimarron-Memorial is ranked 22nd). Legacy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Desert Pines at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th. Desert Pines knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Legacy likes a good challenge.
