Lake Brantley has won three straight games at home, while Dr. Phillips has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Lake Brantley Patriots will welcome the Dr. Phillips Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Lake Brantley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Dr. Phillips' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Lake Brantley beat Seminole 4-1.
Elijah Guzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Cameron Penney was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Julian Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Penney wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Lake Brantley lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Dr. Phillips sidestepped Apopka for a 5-4 win.
Charles Estrella-Roa looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dr. Phillips is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Diego Diaz, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ramses De Maio, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Lake Brantley's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Dr. Phillips, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
