The Jennings County Panthers will head out to take on the Providence Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jennings County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Jennings County will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Silver Creek, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Dragons 2-1 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.

Cole Skinner made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. Skinner was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-6. Skinner is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Speer, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
Jennings County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Providence didn't have quite enough to beat Salem on Tuesday and fell 7-6.
Bryce Masters was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
On the hitting side, Gavin Jackson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Cole Huett was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Jennings County pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Providence, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.
Both Jennings County and Providence just can't seem to miss. The Panthers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Providence struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jennings County beat Providence 4-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
