Chesapeake is 0-9 against Gallia Academy since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chesapeake took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Dawson-Bryant, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Hornets 8-7.

Peyton Muncy made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. He has become a key player for Chesapeake: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 5-11 otherwise. Muncy was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Budd, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted over his last seven matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Cremeans, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Chesapeake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Gallia Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against River Valley on Tuesday. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Raiders. Considering the Blue Devils have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Gallia Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Chesapeake, their record is now 8-11.
Chesapeake might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Gallia Academy in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
