Eagle River is 0-10 against Chugiak since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagle River Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chugiak Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Eagle River is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Eagle River lost to Bartlett on the road by a decisive 53-34 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eagle River in their matchups with Bartlett: they've now lost three in a row.
Eagle River's loss came about despite a quality game from Brooklyn Rollman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Rollman also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Gabby Palozzini was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eagle River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Chugiak faced Dimond in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Chugiak falling 49-31. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Eagle River bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Chugiak, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Eagle River might still be hurting after the 41-20 loss they got from Chugiak when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Eagle River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
