Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Branson/Kim Bearcats walked away with it. They skirted past Peetz 39-37. The win was just what Branson/Kim needed coming off of a 58-14 loss in their prior match.
Branson/Kim's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kolter Cranson led the charge by rushing for 163 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 86 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Cranson's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Doherty, who gained 263 total yards and two touchdowns.
Peetz's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Chance Segelke, who threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also picked up 50 receiving yards. Conner Schumacher was another key contributor, gaining 134 total yards and two touchdowns.
Branson/Kim's win was their sixth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.8 points per game. As for Peetz, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
Branson/Kim will head out on the road to face off against Otis at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Otis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Branson/Kim likes a good challenge. Peetz does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
