After flying high against the Logan Wildcats last Friday, The Chapmanville Regional Tigers came back down to earth. Chapmanville Regional was beaten by Mingo Central 50-6 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, Chapmanville Regional couldn't push the score so high this time.
Chris Ross was a one-man wrecking crew for Mingo Central as he threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Vance, who gained 183 total yards.
Chapmanville Regional's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Scott and 7-2 Winfield (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.8% over those games). As for Mingo Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapmanville Regional will take on Man at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Man is ranked 54th, while Chapmanville Regional is ranked 53rd). As for Mingo Central, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mount View at 7:30 p.m. Mount View comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
