The Oroville Tigers struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Corning Cardinals had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Oroville took a hard 52-35 fall against Corning. Oroville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Oroville's loss came despite strong showings from Ethan Broussard and Aaryan Patel. Broussard scored 20 points along with five rebounds, while Patel scored five points. Broussard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Corning's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quinton Davis, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Davis pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaidan Raker, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Oroville bumped their record down to 6-11 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Corning, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
Oroville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gridley at 7:30 p.m. Averaging 58.8 so far this season, Gridley's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Oroville better be ready for a challenge. As for Corning, they will head out on the road to take on Las Plumas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Las Plumas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
