The Pontiac Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Tolono Unity Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pontiac posted their biggest victory yet this season last Thursday. They breezed by Prairie Central on the road to the tune of 64-27. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pontiac.
Meanwhile, Tolono Unity can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. Everything went their way against Prairie Central as Tolono Unity made off with a 57-37 win. Given Tolono Unity's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Prairie Central is ranked 612th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Raegen Stringer, who scored 22 points along with seven steals and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Little, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Pontiac's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. As for Tolono Unity, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Pontiac came out on top in a nail-biter against Tolono Unity when the teams last played back in January of 2023, sneaking past 54-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pontiac since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
