Penn Manor is 9-1 against J.P. McCaskey since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Penn Manor nor Cedar Crest made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Comets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Falcons. The victory was some much needed relief for the Comets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Oliver Hanna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Penn Manor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Transue, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Manheim Central hit J.P. McCaskey with a seven-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tornados came up short against the Barons, falling 13-2. The Tornados have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Andrew Carlisle put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Carlisle was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Penn Manor's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for J.P. McCaskey, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
J.P. McCaskey's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Penn Manor has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for J.P. McCaskey, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Penn Manor keep running through batters, or will the Tornados buck the trend?
