The Hamburg Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sweet Home. Hamburg was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sweet Home apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March.
Sweet Home's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Erin Clemens-Regan led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Amber Murak was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Hamburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Sweet Home, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
Hamburg will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Starpoint at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. After both having extra time off, Sweet Home and Amherst Central will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
