The Phoenix Spartans's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They really took it to South Plaquemines for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-33 win on the road. With Phoenix ahead 50-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Leading Phoenix to victory were DERVONTE ANCAR and RONDELL BATTLE. ANCAR scored 18 points, while BATTLE dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which BATTLE has scored at least a third of Phoenix's points. The team also got some help courtesy of JAYLON MARTIN, who scored seven points.
Despite the loss, South Plaquemines still got an impressive performance from Byrsten Prout, who scored 14 points.
Phoenix's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for South Plaquemines, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix will take on Lutheran at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for South Plaquemines, they will play host again and welcome Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.6 points per game.
