Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Keaton Wagler of
Shawnee Mission Northwest (Shawnee Mission) is the 2024-25 Kansas MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-6 senior guard led the Cougars to a 22-3 record and their second consecutive Class 6A state championship.
For the season, Wagler averaged 18.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He shot 58.5 percent from the field, 44.8 percent from 3-point range and 83.0 percent from the free throw line.
