The Woodland Baptist Christian Eagles typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday the Union Grove Christian Patriots proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Eagles with a 35-29 victory. The victory was all the more spectacular given Union Grove Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while Woodland Baptist Christian is ranked 152nd).
Union Grove Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Klaira Cromer led the charge by scoring 17 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Taylor Hanes, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
The win makes it two in a row for Union Grove Christian and bumps their season record up to 5-10. As for Woodland Baptist Christian, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3.
Union Grove Christian will head out on the road to take on Vandalia Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodland Baptist Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Triad Baptist Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 16th. Triad Baptist Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
