The Blue Ridge Raiders and the Athens Wildcats will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Blue Ridge will be strutting in after a win while Athens will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Blue Ridge had just enough and edged Wyalusing Valley out 56-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Blue Ridge.
Meanwhile, Athens pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 81-58 defeat to Johnson City might stick with them for a while. Athens has not had much luck with Johnson City recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Athens' loss came about despite a quality game from Connor Mosher, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Mosher scored a full 32.8% of Athens' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jase Babcock, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Athens struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Johnson City pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Blue Ridge's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
