Boardman and Howland are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Boardman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Boardman's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Harding 11-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Collin Resetar was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Boardman is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise. Resetar was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tyler Kirlik was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Boardman is 6-1 when Kirlik posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Donovan Whippo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Boardman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Howland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Cardinal Mooney, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly ten runs.
Terri Werner and Richie Ansel stepped up to the plate in a big way. Werner went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Ansel went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Boardman's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Howland, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Boardman skirted past Howland 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
