The Fredericktown Black Cats were the 52-47 winner over the Central Rebels when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Fredericktown lost to the Rebels at home by a decisive 66-47 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Fredericktown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Rebels are ranked 50th).
Several Black Cats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keira Francis, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Penuel, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Fredericktown dropped their record down to 8-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Central, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fredericktown will square off against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Arcadia Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 377 points over their last six games.
