Briar Woods (Ashburn, Va.) extended its winning streak to 12 games with a 42-14 victory over
Liberty (Bealeton, Va.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Trace McSorley touchdown pass to
Devin Ramos in the second quarter, the Falcons led 28-14 at the half.
Briar Woods expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. BW scored once in the quarter on a
Cory Colder touchdown run.
The Ashburn school's standout player in the win was McSorley. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The Falcons went into the matchup giving up only 6.3 points per game. Led by
Wyatt Teller, the Eagles came in allowing just 17.1 points per game this season. Liberty struggled against Briar Woods, which came in averaging 38.5 points per game.
The loss comes after Liberty defeated Sherando 27-10 last week. The loss snapped LHS's 3-game winning streak.
