Woodhaven is a perfect 10-0 against Roosevelt since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Warriors will host the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Roosevelt will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Woodhaven extended their winning streak to seven on Monday. Everything went the Warriors' way against Edsel Ford as they made off with a 16-1 win.
Gracie Dixon was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Woodhaven got a massive performance out of Ariel Krueger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Krueger has posted over her last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Bartos, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Woodhaven hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Roosevelt made sure to put some runs up on the board against Anderson on Monday. The Bears blew past the Titans 12-1. The Bears have beaten the Titans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Titans has come to flipping the script.
Like Woodhaven, Roosevelt also got a great game from a two-way player: Ellie Isenegger. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Isenegger was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-4. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Xzaila Ellis was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Devlyn Massengill was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Woodhaven's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Both Woodhaven and Roosevelt just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Woodhaven's way against Roosevelt in their previous matchup on April 7th, as Woodhaven made off with a 16-0 win. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
