Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Bullock County is ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Booker T. Washington can attribute much of their success to KeAundra Tatum, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, and Jessica Johnson, who scored 12 points along with six steals. Tatum is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played.
Meanwhile, Montgomery Catholic scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by LAMP on the road to the tune of 84-15. Montgomery Catholic has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 26 points or more this season.
Montgomery Catholic's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Heaven Bailey, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and seven steals, and Hannah Smith, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Bailey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lela Rogers, who scored 20 points.
Booker T. Washington's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Montgomery Catholic, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Booker T. Washington have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 41.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Montgomery Catholic struggles in that department as they've made 37.8% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
