Softball Recap: South Brunswick Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

South Brunswick had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt North Brunswick on Thursday. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Scorpions a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gracin Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Knox, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

South Brunswick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Brunswick only posted a batting average of .062.

South Brunswick has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for North Brunswick, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

South Brunswick will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Ashley at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for North Brunswick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whiteville at 11:00 p.m. on Monday.
