Oakdale is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Central Catholic is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will welcome the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Oakdale 2.4, Central Catholic 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Thursday, Oakdale beat Sierra 6-2.
Sierra's batters probably weren't too happy with Jaelyn Lee (UOP), who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Lee (UOP) has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Reese Donaldson was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Ella Christensen was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Donaldson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Oakdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Mustangs are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic's hitters rose to the challenge against a Mustangs pitching crew that boasted an average of only 2.42 runs allowed on Thursday. The Raiders blew past Mountain House 19-3. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Stephanie Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Central Catholic got a massive performance out of Samantha Nichols, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those six RBI gave Nichols a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jazmarie Roberts, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4.
Central Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Oakdale, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Oakdale might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
