Even though the Rampart Rams have not done well against the Liberty Lancers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Rampart came out on top against Liberty by a score of 50-40. Winning may never get old, but Rampart sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Emily Huxtable was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Rampart's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Dufty, who scored six points.
Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: Samira Gantt scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Gantt's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Ava Dawes was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Rampart has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Rampart will head out on the road to face off against Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Creek is on a four-game streak of home wins, Rampart a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Liberty will take on Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fountain-Fort Carson's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Liberty's offense will have their work cut out for them.
