McCurdy won the last time they faced Penasco and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bobcats blew past the Panthers 21-6. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 11 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cruz Martinez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ethan Bolton was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Celestino Salazar-Archuleta, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

McCurdy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .727. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

McCurdy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Penasco, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCurdy will welcome Mesa Vista at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.83 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Penasco, they will be playing at home against Mora at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
