Luis Vazquez and Max Capote certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Vazquez scored 13 points, while Capote scored 13 points. That was a full 44.8% of Abundant Life Christian Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leading Victory Christian Academy to victory were Gabriel Thompson and Josiah Copeland. Thompson scored 19 points, while Copeland scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that Copeland scored 15 or more points. Josiah Todd-Hunter was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Abundant Life Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-8. As for Victory Christian Academy, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Abundant Life Christian Academy will take on Tabernacle Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Tabernacle Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Shining Light Baptist Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Shining Light Baptist Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 647th, while Victory Christian Academy is ranked 283rd).
