While Kountze's win against Hardin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Kountze had just enough and edged out Hardin 7-6 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.

Kountze kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Anahuac came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 6-2.
Like Kountze, Anahuac also got a great game from a two-way player: Brecken Wilpitz. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. Wilpitz has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaitlynn McDaniel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Estefani Palacios, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Anahuac's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Kountze, their record is now 7-4.
Anahuac's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Kountze has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Anahuac, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Kountze keep running through batters, or will Anahuac buck the trend?
Everything went Kountze's way against Anahuac when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Kountze made off with an 8-1 victory. Does Kountze have another victory up their sleeve, or will Anahuac turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
