The Goshen RedHawks will venture away from home to challenge the Fairfield Falcons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Goshen has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Goshen is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They lost 21-3 to Elkhart.
Abby Snyder made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Leal, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfield). Everything went their way against Angola on Thursday as they made off with a 25-2 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Falcons with their most commanding win of the season.
Madison Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Jenna Fought and Aliviah Spencer did most of the damage at the plate: Fought got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Spencer went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Fought has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Emily Tinsley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Fairfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Angola struck out eight times.
The victory made it two in a row for Fairfield and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Goshen, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Goshen has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Goshen came up short against Fairfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 9-5. Can the RedHawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
