Mena won the last time they faced Ozark and things went their way on Friday too. The Bearcats blew past the Hillbillies 14-2. Considering the Bearcats have won 11 matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Abi Koppein spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Laynie Powell was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmi Hensley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Mena's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Ozark, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
