Walnut Hills hasn't had much luck against Anderson recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Raptors at 7:00 p.m. Walnut Hills will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Walnut Hills turned things around against West Clermont on Friday. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 34-21. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Will Rivers was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 312 yards and five touchdowns. Caylen Murray was in the mix as well, providing Walnut Hills with two scores.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Anderson on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Turpin out of the water with a 58-16 final score. Fans of the Raptors have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Walnut Hills better keep an eye on Owen Scalf. He was instrumental in Anderson's win, throwing for 313 yards and five TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 54 yards and one touchdown. Their leading receiver Jordan Davis was Scalf's top target yet again, picking up 111 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 41 yards and one TD.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Anderson's defense and their five sacks. Brady Kuhn was especially locked on to Turpin's QB and sacked him twice. Kuhn has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Anderson, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ke'Maury Tye, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Walnut Hills' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Walnut Hills was dealt a bruising 46-7 loss at the hands of Anderson in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Eagles, Justice Burnam (who threw for 228 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
