Baseball Recap: Buffalo Gap Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Buffalo Gap ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Nelson County Governors 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bison have posted since April 1st.

Cooper Cline and Cal Loan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cline didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Loan tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cline has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Cline went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI, while Loan got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Cline has become a key player for Buffalo Gap: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Reed, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brandon Argenbright, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Buffalo Gap and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Nelson County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.
