Santa Fe and Eastside are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Santa Fe Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eastside Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Santa Fe is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Friday, Santa Fe had to suffer through a rough 42-7 loss at the hands of Union County. Santa Fe gained 225 more yards on the day, but it was Union County that made the best of use of them.
Meanwhile, Eastside can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They claimed a resounding 43-0 victory over St. Joseph Academy on the road. The win was just what Eastside needed coming off of a 38-0 loss in their prior match.
Adrian Curtis was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Curtis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Corvin Byrd, who rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
Santa Fe's loss was their 13th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Palatka and 6-1 Suwannee (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 57.6% over those games). As for Eastside, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Santa Fe might still be hurting after the 28-7 loss they got from Eastside in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Santa Fe have more luck at home instead of on the road?
