Not much got past Aubrey Yeary, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Astronaut off the board. Yeary has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Spruce Creek's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Minaberry, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Lake Brantley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over East Lake on Saturday.
Belle Rosales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Catharine Conway was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Rylie Morris was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Spruce Creek pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Brantley, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Both Spruce Creek and Lake Brantley just can't seem to miss. Spruce Creek has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Lake Brantley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Spruce Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Brantley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will Spruce Creek repeat their success, or does Lake Brantley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
