The Sebring Blue Streaks will be playing at home against the Westwood Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Sebring sitting on five straight wins and Westwood on three.
Sebring put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 31-7 margin over Central. Given Sebring's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Central is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sebring's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Travis Kerney led the charge by rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 112 yards and a touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyveon Collymore, who gained 141 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Sebring's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leon Harris was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Meanwhile, Westwood didn't have too much trouble with Boca Raton at home on Friday as they won 26-7.
Todd Jackson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Jackson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Braylon Vincent and his 80 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Westwood's win.
Sebring pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.33 points. As for Westwood, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Everything came up roses for Sebring against Westwood in their previous matchup back in October as the team secured a 30-3 win. Will Sebring repeat their success, or does Westwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
