On Monday, South Plantation beat Southridge 65-53. Given South Plantation's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Southridge is ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Plantation's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Harry Gelin led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwight Stephens, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
South Plantation is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Southridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
South Plantation will be playing in front of their home fans against Nova at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nova is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. Southridge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Killian at 1:30 p.m. on January 16th. Killian is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
