Las Animas is 0-3 against Peyton since March of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. Las Animas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Las Animas will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Calhan on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.
Logan Servaes was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Servaes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Las Animas let Jesus Lopez and Nicholas Duran run wild. Lopez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Duran scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave Duran a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kree Wallace, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Las Animas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhan only posted an OBP of .240.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Peyton was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Manitou Springs. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Panthers, who until this match were averaging 3.5 runs allowed.
Peyton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Stewart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Stewart hit this season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Peyton fell to 7-1. As for Las Animas, their record now sits at 6-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Las Animas has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Peyton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
