After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Peoria Christian, the Elmwood Trojans were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Astoria/VIT by a score of 56-46. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Elmwood also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Astoria/VIT lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaden Foglesong. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Foglesong has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Huston, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Elmwood's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Astoria/VIT, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elmwood will face off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lewistown is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Astoria/VIT, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Rushville-Industry is ranked 586th, while the Rebels are ranked 593rd).
