Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McDowell). They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Erie Royals on Monday. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 8.4 runs per game.
Ethan Bechtold looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
At the plate, McDowell got a massive performance out of Joey Stephan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave Stephan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Orlando, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
McDowell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
McDowell now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Erie, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
