Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Danielle Carnegie of
Grayson (Loganville) is the 2023-24 Georgia MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-9 senior guard led the Rams to a 32-0 record and Class AAAAAAA title.
For the season, Carnegie averaged 21.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.9 steals per game. She hit right on her season average with 21 points in Grayson's 65-44 win over North Paulding (Dallas) in the title game, giving the Rams their first state crown.

Carnegie surpassed 2,000 career points along with more than 900 rebounds and 600 assists. Grayson went 74-15 over the past three seasons thanks in part to her efforts.
Regarded as a top 50 prospect in the Class of 2024, Carnegie signed with Georgia Tech in November over Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, Louisville and Kentucky.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
