Softball Recap: Riverdale Has No Trouble Against Parlier

Riverdale won the last time they faced Parlier and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Cowboys put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-5 victory. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Brynn Close was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. Close was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Ashley Romero was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Natalia Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Riverdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Riverdale's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Parlier, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Riverdale and Parlier will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Cowboys see the field they'll take on Fresno Christian at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Parlier, their break will end when they face Fowler at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
