The Antonian Prep Apaches and the Parish Episcopal Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Antonian Prep Apaches had to settle for second. They took a serious blow against the Panthers, falling 73-41. While losing is never fun, Antonian Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Parish Episcopal is ranked 65th).
Antonian Prep's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jayce Toscano, who threw for 380 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Raleigh Strode, who gained 187 total yards and three touchdowns.
Maddux Reid was his usual excellent self, rushing for 289 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown for Parish Episcopal. Sawyer Anderson was another key contributor, throwing for 312 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes.
Antonian Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Parish Episcopal, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Antonian Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Parish Episcopal will square off against St. Thomas Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 360 points over their last seven games.
