The Patterson Institute Lions lost against the Fort Hancock Mustangs back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Patterson Institute took a serious blow against Fort Hancock, falling 56-16. Patterson Institute was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-4.
Emmanuel Herrera was his usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Fort Hancock. The game was Herrera's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zaid Hermosillo, who scored ten points along with five assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Patterson Institute and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Fort Hancock, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Patterson Institute will face off against Irvin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Irvin has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-0 during that stretch of close contests. Fort Hancock will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Chaparral at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Chaparral presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fort Hancock in their respective states (Chaparral is ranked 111th in New Mexico, while Fort Hancock is ranked 1267th in Texas).
