The University Bulldogs were the 67-59 winner over the Sterling Tigers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. University took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sterling on Thursday. University has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
University's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Cordova, who scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cordova has scored all season. Coehn Nitzel was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
University has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Sterling, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
University will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Valley at 1:00 p.m. Valley has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Sterling, they will head out on the road to take on Resurrection Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Resurrection Christian will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
