The Dieterich Movin Maroons won against the Martinsville Bluestreaks on Monday with 44 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Dieterich simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Martinsville 44-16 on the road. Given Dieterich's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Martinsville is ranked 677th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dieterich's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miley Britton, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The game was Britton's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brittney Niemerg, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Dieterich, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. As for Martinsville, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dieterich will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cumberland at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th. As for Martinsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cairo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
