The Northeast Vikings can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 66-58 victory over Hollins. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamaries Conyers led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Conyers hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Ruiz, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Several Royals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malachi Miller, who scored 19 points. Miller has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Josh Castallani was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Northeast's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Hollins, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast will take on Seminole at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Seminole knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Northeast likes a good challenge. As for Hollins, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tarpon Springs at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
