The Longmeadow Lancers will venture away from home to take on the Westfield Bombers at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Longmeadow had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Frontier Regional on Monday. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Red Hawks. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Red Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Longmeadow never let Frontier Regional on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-23, 25-20.

Longmeadow relied on the efforts of Chris Bousquet, who had eight digs and four assists, and Nhan Vuong, who hit 100% for six kills and 28 assists and one block. Vuong has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more assists the last 35 times he's played. Thomas Breed also deserves some recognition as he had his first dig of the season.
Meanwhile, Westfield came tearing into Monday's contest with seven straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 3-0 victory.
Westfield not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Chicopee Comp between 16 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-18.
Longmeadow better focus on containing Nolan Rodgers and Giovanni Gonzalez as the pair were huge in Westfield's win. Rodgers had 15 digs and three aces, while Gonzalez had 39 assists and five digs. That's the most digs Rodgers has posted since April 4th.
Westfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in eight consecutive matchups.
Westfield pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Longmeadow, their record now sits at 8-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's game: Longmeadow has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Westfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Longmeadow might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Westfield when the teams last played back in June of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
