It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Yates Lions can now relate to. They were outmatched by Needville on the road and fell 49-14. Yates was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-6.
It was another big night for Da'Shawn Burton, who rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Burton's longest rush was for an incredible 88 yards. Keilan Sweeny was another key contributor, rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
This is the second loss in a row for Yates and nudges their season record down to 8-3. As for Needville, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Yates does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Needville is on the road again on Thursday and play against Lumberton at 7:00 p.m. on November 16th. Lumberton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
