The Paulding Panthers will challenge the Edgerton Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Paulding has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Edgerton will arrive with five straight victories.
On Monday, Paulding came up short against Defiance and fell 4-1.
Paulding saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jalyn Klopfenstein, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Edgerton put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Pettisville. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Blackbirds with a sharp 11-0 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Ava Swank, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Casey Everetts, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Edgerton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in four consecutive games.
Edgerton's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Paulding, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Paulding hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Edgerton struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Paulding came out on top in a nail-biter against Edgerton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
