Softball Recap: Sharpsville Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Sharpsville won the last time they faced West Middlesex and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Big Reds with a sharp 12-1 win. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by eight runs or more this season.

Emma Brest and Lily Palko did most of the damage at the plate: Brest went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Palko went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Brest has posted since back in May of 2024. Miah Applegarth was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Sharpsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Middlesex only posted an OBP of .368.

The victory was the third in a row for Sharpsville, bringing their record up to 11-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Middlesex, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Sharpsville has already played their next game, an 8-1 defeat against Harbor Creek on the 15th. As for West Middlesex, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 5-1 victory against Rocky Grove on the 14th.
