South Elgin is on a three-game streak of home wins, while L is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The South Elgin Storm will take on the L Lane Tech at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
South Elgin put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Streamwood 64-11 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-11.
South Elgin can attribute much of their success to Kevon Brooks jr, who threw for 256 yards and six touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and Ishmael George, who picked up 187 receiving yards and five touchdowns. George's longest reception was for an incredible 77 yards. Another player making a difference was Lucas Noworol, who gained 79 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, L welcomed the New Year with a 7-3 win over Amundsen.
South Elgin's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for L, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
